Sito’s Angels Memorial Golf Tournament
August 4, 2009 // No Comments
This year’s edition of the Sito’s Angels Memorial Golf Tournament dodged the raindrops and the sandtraps on Sunday in support of the Mohawk Valley Memory Walk. They are still counting the money but the tournament organizers say that this year was a terrific success.
The annual golf tournament held by the Darling and Despins families memorializes family matriarch Katie Deep, or Sito as her grandchildren called her. Katie was an avid golfer and the family puts on the tournament to keep her spirit alive and support their Memory Walk team — Sito’s Angels.

Kickoff! Memory Walk Season Underway in Mohawk Valley
June 25, 2009 // No Comments
Last evening’s Memory Walk kickoff party in the Mohawk Valley was not just a success. It was the starting point for a three-month march towards our 2009 Memory Walk on September 12. More than 75 people came to our party, which was presented and hosted by Clare Bridge of Clinton, a Brookdale Senior Living property. Clare Bridge staff and Chapter volunteers grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, while musicians and magicians entertained the crowd. At the end of the night, Chapter staff raffled off Alzheimer’s Association sweatshirts and fleece jackets, a Panera gift card, a certificate for boat docking and a Blackberry Curve, which was donated by AT&T Wireless. Mary Donovan of Clinton won the Blackberry (her picture is in the photo gallery below).
There’s plenty of time between now and September 12 to make an impact in the lives of people with Alzheimer’s disease. If you missed out on the kickoff party, don’t worry! All of the information which was circulated is located on our Memory Walk website.
Special thank yous go out to our Memory Walk committee for their assistance with the event, Clare Bridge of Clinton for hosting and providing the food and AT&T Wireless for their Blackberry donation and providing an Internet connection for our staff.

Memory Walk Kickoff Parties
June 16, 2009 // No Comments
Memory Walk is the Alzheimer’s Association’s national event aimed at uniting communities in the fight against Alzheimer’s. Each year, thousands of people around the United States raise millions of dollars and walk in support of the Alzheimer’s Association’s mission.
In advance of this fall’s walks in Central New York, the Chapter will hold kickoff parties to ring in the season. Kickoff parties are fun and educational, welcoming walkers to learn more about Memory Walk and the Alzheimer’s Association’s work and showing walkers how to make the most of their efforts, either as a team or individual walkers. Alzheimer’s Association staff and volunteers are on hand to answer questions and help participants reach their goals.
The first kickoff event took place on June 13 in Watertown. Upcoming events include:
Mohawk Valley: June 24, 5-7 p.m. at Brookdale Clare Bridge of Clinton.
Greater Syracuse: July 15, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Chapter’s office in Syracuse.
St. Lawrence: July 15, 4-6 p.m. in Canton Park.

A Night to Remember in Utica
April 9, 2009 // No Comments
It was truly A Night to Remember!
More than 120 women from the Mohawk Valley attended our inaugural event at the Hotel Utica on April 3. With more than 30 vendors in attendance, from massage therapists to clothing shops to sellers of natural products, our guests received a look at the best the Mohawk Valley has to offer. And we haven’t even talked about the food! Our guests were tempted by pasta, Utica greens, Greek delicacies and desserts from the top restaurants and bakeries in the area.
A Night to Remember was presented by the Hotel Utica and sponsored by Brookdale Senior Living, Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, Joseph Sylvester and Lite 98.7 FM.
